Loading your Cooklook
Last updated: March 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Cooklook collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Cooklook mobile app, the Cooklook website, and our related APIs and services.
Cooklook is a recipe organizer that lets you create an account, import recipes from websites, upload recipe images, chat with AI about recipes, manage subscriptions, and optionally share recipes by link. This policy is meant to describe what the product currently does in practice.
Cooklook includes AI-powered features. When you use them, the content needed to answer your request may be processed by our AI providers and supporting services. Depending on the feature, that can include recipe titles, descriptions, ingredients, instructions, recipe context, chat messages, uploaded recipe photos, and page content from URLs you submit for import.
If you do not want recipe content or images processed for these features, do not use AI chat, AI substitutions, image analysis, or URL import.
The mobile app may request access to your camera and photo library if you choose to take a photo of a recipe or upload an image. The app may also read clipboard text on the import screen to help detect recipe URLs you may want to paste.
On iOS, if you use the Cooklook share extension, recipe-related URLs you share from other apps may be sent to Cooklook to start an import, subject to your action in the extension and the app.
The app and website also store certain information locally on your device or browser, such as authentication state, cached recipe data, chat history, instruction progress, and other temporary application data to improve performance and keep features working.
Our website uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, session management, analytics, performance measurement, and marketing attribution. These technologies may be set by Cooklook or by service providers working on our behalf.
You can control some cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect sign-in and other website features.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share information with service providers and partners when needed to run Cooklook, process payments, support AI features, measure website performance, or comply with law.
On the website, we use analytics and marketing tools to understand traffic, measure signups and purchases, and improve our marketing. These tools may receive information such as page views, browser data, IP address, cookie identifiers, user agent, and when available, hashed email address for conversion measurement.
We may also add new users to our email marketing systems for onboarding, product updates, and cooking-related communications. Marketing emails generally include a way to unsubscribe.
If you choose to share a recipe by link, that recipe and related metadata become accessible to anyone who has the share link. Please do not include sensitive personal information in recipes or notes that you choose to share.
Recipe images are stored so they can be displayed by the product and, in some cases, are served using public URLs. For that reason, you should only upload images you are comfortable using in connection with your recipe content.
If you have a concern about content shared with you via a recipe link, you can use the in-app reporting option (for example, from Profile) so we can review it.
We retain account information and user content for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain records of recipe history, support subscriptions, resolve disputes, and meet legal, accounting, or security obligations. We may also keep limited backup, cache, and log data for a period of time after content is changed or removed.
If you disable recipe sharing, the link should no longer work going forward, but copies of recipes previously saved by other users will remain in those users' accounts.
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encrypted connections in transit, authenticated access controls, and security features provided by our infrastructure vendors. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
Deleting your account: You can permanently delete your account and associated personal data from the Cooklook mobile app by opening the Profile tab and using Delete account (you will be asked to confirm). On the website, you can delete your account while signed in from your Account page. Deletion is not limited to deactivation—it removes your account as described in the confirmation prompts. If you subscribed on iOS, canceling your subscription is handled separately in your Apple ID subscription settings; if you subscribed on the web, Stripe billing is managed from your account as shown in the product.
For other privacy requests (such as access or correction questions), email us at support@getcooklook.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
Cooklook is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will investigate.
Cooklook and our service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and may also provide additional notice through the service or by email when appropriate.
